NETGEAR® ProSafe® Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches Certified by The Tolly Group as Scalable, Reliable, Affordable, Full-Featured Network Switches for Growing Small and Medium Businesses

ProSafe 24- and 48-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches Receive Tolly’s “Up To Spec” Certification Based Upon Feature and Performance Evaluation in the Areas of Resiliency, Management, Security, and Quality-of-Service

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — November 19, 2007 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that the industry’s only Gigabit Smart Stackable Switches, the ProSafe 24- and 48-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches (GS724TS and GS748TS), have received the Tolly “Up-to-Spec” certification as the result of a recent feature and performance evaluation conducted by The Tolly Group.  The report is available for viewing and download at http://www.netgear.com/tollyreport

The extensive evaluation conducted by The Tolly Group assessed the GS724TS and GS748TS in the areas of zero-loss Layer 2 throughput, stacking port performance, stack resiliency, management, security, and Quality of Service (QoS).  During the extensive testing, Tolly Group engineers verified the zero-loss bi-directional throughput of 20 Gbps aggregate across a three-switch stacking ring topology, the sub-second fail-over when one of the active switches in the stack was failed, the resiliency of the stack when switches were added or failed, management of the stack via Web browser and SNMP-based management software, the ability to authenticate users via 802.1x and refer to a RADIUS server to verify credentials, and the ability to support rate limiting and layer 2/3 prioritization.

“Both SMBs and branch offices need to reduce costs for their IT infrastructures, plus allow for future network upgrades and expansion.  Easy-to-manage stackable smart switches can help them to accommodate their needs without significantly adding complexity and costs,” stated the Tolly Group report.  “Tests show that NETGEAR ProSafe GS748TS and GS724TS support advanced network features – all of the features that are important to SMB and branch office users while delivering robust performance and functionality.”

“The results of the Tolly Group testing validate the high-end performance and robust feature set of our ProSafe Gigabit Stackable Smart Switch product family and substantiate the reasoning behind why this line is continuing to enjoy increased adoption and market share among growing small and medium businesses,” stated Sanjay Kumar, Director of Product Marketing for Switching Products at NETGEAR.  “The ability to deliver zero-loss Layer 2 Gigabit performance, easy Web-based or SNMP manageability, and the capability to stack multiple switches to manage as many as 288 ports with a single IP address with full resiliency, while keeping it easy to manage, all at an affordable price point, has positioned our Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches the de facto standard in the Stackable Smart Switch category.”

About the ProSafe 24- and 48-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches
The NETGEAR ProSafe 24 and 48 Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches (GS724TS and GS748TS) offer performance and reliability in a complete affordable network switch solution that delivers scalability and high availability, advanced security, advanced Quality of Service (QoS), and “smart” management features.

Two dedicated high-speed stacking ports provide 20 Gbps of bandwidth and provide the ability to stack as many as six switches, while maintaining high-speed connectivity across the stack with off-the-shelf HDMI cables, which are included with the switches. All switches in the stack are hot-swappable and the stacking technology enables automatic fail-over in case any switch in the stack fails, providing rapid reconfiguration to prevent network downtime.

The GS724TS and GS748TS provide robust security and advanced Quality of Service to small- and medium-sized businesses including a robust feature set that includes: 802.1x for authentication, ACL filtering, 802.1p and DSCP-based prioritization for prioritization of VoIP traffic, and rate limiting.

Optimized for use with NETGEAR’s ProSafe Network Management Software (NMS100), all ProSafe Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches can be managed as though they are one unit from an easy-to-use browser-based console that can be used for configuration, network monitoring and troubleshooting. The switches also have SNMP to collect and track data, manage devices and more easily enforce critical IT controls and policies.

The NETGEAR ProSafe 24 and 48 Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches (GS724TS and GS748TS) are backed by a lifetime warranty and 24/7 technical support. Optional NETGEAR ProSupport service offerings include advanced technical support (OnCall 24x7) and next business day hardware replacement (XPressHW). The GS724TS and GS748TS are available via leading direct marketers, e-commerce sites, and value-added resellers at retail prices of $529.99 USD and $999.99 USD, respectively.
